  1. You'll probably want to get to a couple of museums, etc.  nice dinner, I'd figure, probably around 100 - 150 € or so per day.  maybe less if you eat economically most of the time.  I think I spent about 75€/day last year for two adults, one child, and we were going pretty cheap most of the time.  figure roughly 10 per museum (and you'll wind up with plenty extra for souvenirs) and around 10 pp for lunch and dinner, on the cheap, but more if you're going out to really nice places for dinner, or whatever.

Best bet:  just search out the places you want to go.  Search the Prado, get the entrance fee.  Palacio Real, etc.  Much can be done that's just walking around.  check some menus online.  I paid about 6€ for a plate of paella in the Plaza Mayor,on the Terraza...it's less if you're eating out in a more modest location.  Drinks run about 3 - 6€ or so, wine, fino, etc.

  2. I think 100 euros per day.  Bear in mind that drinks in bars on new years eve are incredibly inflated - we paid 10 euros each for a large tap beer, at another bar 5 euros for a tiny beer (normally beers cost between 1 and 3 euros).  If you plan to visit museums it's around 10 euros each for entry.

You can eat on the cheap by going to a cafe for a sandwich for around 3 euros, but a proper meal for lunch will be 8-12 euros each.  Dinner at a spanish or italian restaurant around 20 euros each with wine.

  3. You could get by on €300 but it depends on how cheap you want to make it. People on holiday tend to spend more than their original budget. I would take the €300 and use your credit card (not debit card) for anything extra.
