  1. $4.00/gal = about $1.00/liter = about 0.65 euros/liter, about 0.5 pounds/liter.

  2. Where I am, a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline/petrol is right about USD 4.00 = EUR 2.54 = GBP 2.01. Since 1 gal is 3.785 liters, 1 liter is USD 1.06 = EUR 0.67 = GBP 0.53.

  3. We use gallons, not litres, in the U.S.

But I think that would translate to about a dollar.

  4. You need to ask them "How much is a gallon of gas". And then remember that a US gallon is smaller than an Imperial gallon.

    1 US gallon = 3.78541178 liters

    Edit to the Yanks:

We are paying £1.20 per liter for unleaded.

  5. Here in Southeast Michigan:

    Regular Unleaded: $4.16/gal ($1.10/litre) to $4.32/gal ($1.14/litre)

    Premium Unleaded: $4.34/gal ($1.15/litre) to $4.53/gal ($1.20/litre)

    Diesel: $4.85/gal ($1.28/litre) to $4.99/gal ($1.32/litre)

Putting into different currencies (price per litre):

    Regular Unleaded: .70EUR/.55GBP to .72EUR/.57GBP

    Premium Unleaded: .73EUR/.58GBP to .76EUR/.60GBP

    Diesel: .81EUR/.64GBP to .84EUR/.66 GBP

The thing that hit us here in the US is the price of gas has gone up $1.30/gal ($.34/litre) in the past year alone. That equates to an increase of .17GBP/litre or .22EUR/litre.

When I started driving, I was paying only $1.32/gal ($.35/litre) and that was only in 2003.

  6. In southern oregon, where i am i just paid $4.43 a gallon for regulor

  7. Too Cheap thats for sure compared to UK prices!

  8. Have a look at http://www.gasbuddy.com

You can check state/provincial averages for the whole of the U.S. and Canada.

Current U.S. average of $4.10 per gallon is equivalent to about 54 pence per liter at the current exchange rate, so well under half the current U.K. price.
