  1. Just a suggestion, but you should try searching Y! Answers before asking a question.

The price for liquid hydrogen varies, but is currently around $5.50 per kg.  It costs about $1.50 to $3.00 per kg to condense it into a liquid, so gaseous hydrogen would be between $2.50 and $4.00 per kg.  I didn't include the cost of pressurizing it, but I think $3.00 to $3.50 per kg would be a good price for pressurized H2 at 3,000 PSI.

BTW, when used as a fuel, the ultimate cost per mile for that hydrogen is more than gasoline.  That is, 1 kg of hydrogen is equivalent to a 1/2 gallon of gasoline.  You pay $3.00 for the hydrogen, or $2.00 for the gasoline.  The price of natural gas (used to make H2) also goes up with the price of oil (and gasoline).  At the moment, gasoline is bubbled and NG isn't, but by the end of August, after the oil bubble has popped and gas is again $2.50 per gallon, hydrogen will be even worse ($3.00 vs $1.75).

Now, for fuel cell prototypes like the FCX, the hydrogen is used about twice as efficiently as the gasoline, both from improved engine efficiency and a smaller chassis.  This makes the H2 about the same per mile as our $4.00 per gal gasoline (for a similar sized car).

And some other points to consider. $3.00 per kg is the cost if hydrogen is made from natural gas. If made from electricity, it jumps to about $6.00 per kg. Almost no supplier makes hydrogen from electricity.

The FCX can only carry about 5 kg of compressed H2 gas at 5,000 PSI.  The higher pressure increases the cost of the hydrogen some, probably to $3.50 or $4.00 per kg.  The high pressure is necessary to achieve the 350 mile range.  If filled at the more conventional 3,000 PSI, the range is only 210 miles.

  2. I did  a search on this last night, I found a lot of stations that sell hydrogen, but none of them listed their prices.

I did find on article that stated the price from $1 to $20, personally I did not consider that an accurate price.

however a hydrogen car will run 2 to 3 times farther on hydrogen than on gas.

Honda's hydrogen prototype is not being sold but leased in LA county only, for $600 a month, it would take a lot of gas savings to pay that much.

especially with the limited range that the lease requires.
