Varies by State and also which plan you want. They have a "regular" and a premium plan with more miles of towing. I paid $65 a year in Florida for the premium plan a few years ago. Most require the total amount as a lump sum, one year payment.

Pretty cheap.  The cheap package from AAA is I think $30 per year.  I have the "Premier" package and it's still only $76.
