  1. this is pretty good http://www.directory.martialarm.net is a martial arts directory listings of martial arts schools by location. Including country, state and city.

  2. I think about 50 for once a week, 100 for twice, and so on. No, it's nowhere to late for you to learn. BJ Penn one of the greatest MMA fighters only started training when he was 17.

  3. It's never too late to learn martial arts. There might be some things you can't do because of physical limitations (I'm thinking much older people, not teenagers), but martial arts is typically accessible across all ages and physical conditions.

It depends on from school to school and place to place. I knew of a place where it was nearly 700 for every 6 months (not including tests) but students were free to train every day, more than once a day (they didn't have to, but they could). This is opposed to most other schools that I've seen in which they only offer certain types (beginner, certain belt levels, etc.) at certain times. So it all depends on your schedule, what you're looking for, the style, etc.

    Good luck!

  4. It's not about the cost, it's about the teacher that tells you how good the class will be for you.  Most people don't pay more than 100 dollars or so a month.  The more you pay, the more often you can show up to train.

  5. It's never too late. Plenty of people start in their 40s or 50s.

Average pricing will vary based on location. The best way is to get pricing from as many schools as you can find, drop the highest and the lowest from the list and average the rest together. That will give you a good number.

  6. hey! good luck! i just turned 16 and just started my first martial arts class, and it definitely isn't too late. Anyrate, it's way too much fun to say "too late" and never try.

The school I go to (It's a Kung Fu school) charges about $110 a month, depending on what you're signing up for.  It's $90 for two classes a week on up, and it's a really nice school.

  7. No, you are in a great period of your life, stuff heals quick and this is a great age to start learning.  In my country(Israel) we start pre-army training at 14, and we have a good army.

About how much to pay,  I teach at community centers and schools, so it works out to around $10 a class if you attend all classes.

I pay $115 a month for Taiji, and they are open 6 days a week, the open workout hours are great, I could also take advantage of Hung Gar Kung Fu classes as well  There is an MMA gym in our are with great prices and a great class schedule.  I will include the links to both places.  I have no web site and have been teaching at the same schools and community centers for years.

Note that in the case of Waikru they do Muay Thai all day and the BJJ classes are 3 hours, a great deal.  Prices are also dictated by region.  In the Boston area rent is high so prices reflect the cost of living.

In the case of both of these places, they encourage you to come as often as you can, the $115/month is for unlimited 1 hour classes based on your rank and ability.  In the case of Waikru, they would love to have you in 5 -10 times a week, it would mean they have a hard training fighter, maybe worthy of an MMA fight and promotional efforts on the part of the gym owner.

Places that charge by the class are ridiculous...I charge a flat rate per semester and have 4 classes a week, I wish students would come to all four.

Any place that charges based on your number of classes per week is not for me...

  8. Not exactly what you are asking  but this is pretty good http://www.directory.martialarm.net martial arts directory. It covers the location of all types of martial arts schools.
