  1. This differs from state to state. In CA, the maximum speed is 65 MPH, although there are stretches of highway that are 70 MPH (such as I-5 in the San Joaquin Valley). In metro areas, the max is 55 MPH (US-101 near downtown LA, for example)

  2. If you are a member of AAA stop by there and they can help you out.

  3. There are no states in the US where you can legally drive 80 mph.

The maximum in any state is 75.

Most of the states that allow 75 are in the western half of the country.  In the eastern half, most are limited to 65 and some states, like California, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio have split speed limits for cars and trucks.   ie:  70/55, 65/55, etc.

There are sections of California where cars are allowed to do 70mph, while trucks traveling on the same highway are only allowed to do 55mph.  Doing northbound I-5 out of LA on a Friday night is a nightmare.  The left lane is filled with people in cars that want to do 80 and the right lane is full of trucks cheating the system at 59.  Talk about an "accident looking for a place to happen".... this is it!

Check the link below for all the state speed laws.

    Drive safe!!!

  4. The "national" speed limit is 65, but states have the right to set limits as they determine reasonable, given road conditions.

  5. The speed limit varies from state to state. Some states ar still 55MPH while other states ar 75MPH.

Arizona is working on a stretch of interstate that would be 80MPH.

A few year ago Montana and a few other states had no speed limits, it was posted Practical & Prudent.

    I hope this helps!

  6. Most states its 65, a few states the larger ones like Colorado is 80. Each state has its own laws regarding the speed limit on the highway.
