  1. Be sure to start at this site:

    http://www.ppt.gc.ca/cdn/index.aspx?lang...

For a person 3 to 15 years of age a Canadian passport is $37 and for a person more than 16 years of age it is $87.

Canada passports are valid for five years for adults and children over 3; for children under 3; the passport is valid for 3 years. Passports cannot be renewed.

You didn't say if you are in Canada, in the US or are residing in some other country.  That makes a difference.

Go to this site, above, and choose which place you reside in now, and then you can download a Canada passport application, and fill it out. If you are in Canada, you also could pick up a Canadian passport application at a Canada Post outlet or at a Canada Passport office.

On-line forms are in PDF and must be printed and completed off-line, then submitted in person or by mail with accompanying documents.

When using the on line forms, be sure to select the correct form and follow the directions for printing and completing the form carefully.

Passport requirements may change, so be sure to pick up a new application form (or download one) each time you are making a new application.  Old ones are probably no longer valid.

There are different versions of the application depending on if it is for an adult or child and if you are mailing it in or applying in person so be sure to fill out the correct one!!

NEVER pay any company trying to charge you for the application forms; they are provided free from the Canadian Government. There is NO reason why you should be paying money for them.

Tips for First Time Fliers are found at everything2.com (see below for source):

Be sure to pack light.  Get to the airport EARLY.  Lines are long.  Check your airline for specific instructions and rules, and to make sure you know if there are charges for checking a bag, what is and is not permitted, and if there will be food allowed to be carried on.  Save yourself the expense and hassle of waiting for or purchasing food you don't normally eat by bringing along your own snack food, but not drinks/liquids.

Most airlines restrict liquids and gels to less than 3 ounzes, even for medications.  Again, check your airlines' website for full instructions.

Takeoff: you'll probably feel a weird reclining/accelerating feeling. This is normal. Once you get off the ground, you'll probably feel like you're on a very slow and graceful roller coaster. This is also normal. Takeoff can be a bit bumpy and awkward.  Keep yourself occupied with a good book or bring a project along to focus on.

Landing: when you land, it may be bumpy. The rear landing gear will make contact first, and not always at exactly the same moment. Then the nose will touch down. Then some rather severe braking kicks in. The "air" or engines will get REALLY LOUD and you'll slow down REALLY FAST. This is normal. Bring chewing gum to chew just before and during landing.  Good time to read again.

In the air: Drink or don't drink. Up to you. You might want to skip alcohol as airplane lavatories are not the easiest to use and there might be a line. You also might be told to remain in your seat if there's turbulence. Turbulence is normal.

On the ground: Airport security has no sense of humor. Immigration staff have even less. Be sure to declare everything and act with dignity and decorum.  The airport is tough on people who clown around, with all the threats of terrorism these days. Be "adult" and be safe.

    Hope these tips help.

  2. I'm guessing around $85.

  3. Passports are like 85 dollars. But it's deffinitely a good investment.
