I'm really struggling with distance on my new fti driver, for some reason I bought a regular shaft (on the advice of sales assistant serving me) instead of a firm or stiff shaft which I have had previously!! Previous driver was a big bertha 2+ with a firm shaft which when i hit solid flew for miles, I don't get the same feel for the new club, never seem to hit it solid, new club is approx 40-50 yards behind old club, of course it went long and straight in the nets on there shiny computer simulator, duhh!!! Totally ruining my confidence :(

  1. i would try to send it back to callaway. they should do it for free. Tell them who you bought it from and then they will also send a rep to the store to ensure this doesn't happen again. All you will have to pay is shipping. Call Callaway and they will help you. Shafts cost anywhere from 50-750 dollars + an instalation fee. Free if you send it back to callaway though. Good luck.

  2. The cost depends on what shaft you put into it.  The labor cost is proabably no more than $20, but the cost of the new shaft can get expensive.  Top name graphites are $150 and up to $400 or more.  Maybe you hit the old one further because it was illegal (more COR than allowed or something) and no matter what shaft you use you will not get the same result as the old one?

  3. So why don't you cut your loses and go back to your old club??? A new shaft can cost as much as you want to pay. Some of the more exotic shafts cost $500. Something cheap would be in the neighborhood of $70.

I sounds like it boils down to going back to your old driver. It sucks but you would be much better off buying a new driver you like rather than re-shafting this one.

    Good luck.

  4. You lost 40 yards because of the shaft? or the new driver?

I doubt shafts do make a big difference in distance but it's true the feel is different for every shaft.

And get a clubmaker to fit you instead of a salesman.
