How much is it to rent an instrument like a clarinet?

I'm renting a clarinet in school does anyone know the average price?

unless you are not yet sure if you want to be in band, I would recommend buying a used plastic clarinet from a good local music store. It will probably be around $300. If you are planning on continuing in band, you'll most likely be buying one anyway, and if you rent one from a music store, this is only about the price of a ten month rent (at around $30 a month, depending on what store you rent it from, used/new, and what quality clarinet you are renting)- less than a year!

If you are not sure yet if you want to continue in band (or clarinet), the school is absolutely the best place to rent from. My experience is that rent at school is roughly $50 a semester, although you have to pay for repairs if you drop it or something.

Generally most stores rent them for $20-$25 a month (new OR used- doesn't matter).  This doesn't include reeds, but usually includes discounts on maintenance.

If you rent it from your school, there may be a rental fee that goes to help buy new instruments or pay for insurance or "collective maintenance".  If you go through your school, the price varies, but it's not very expensive.  Sometimes (especially in high school) there is no direct rental fee, but a blanket "arts" fee that covers rentals, music, transportaion to contests, uniforms, etc.

if you are renting a clarinet from the school it should be only 20-45$ monthly or otherwise. If you are renting a clarinet from a dealer I would look for a used instrument on a rent to own plan. If you are only a beginner I would aim for 200$

If you're using a school one, you porbably only have to pay like 50 bucks at first for the whole year, in high school it should be included if you had a big fee, at a rental price its like 35 for new 25 for used
