  1. You should adopt from a shelter. Pet shops jack the prices up to make money but shelters are more interested in finding good homes for the billions of homeless kittens out there. The fee (generally no more than $60) they charge generally covers the spay/neuter and other medical bills. By adopting from a shelter you'd be doing the right thing and opening up room for other cats and kittens to come off the street and find a safe place at the shelter.

  2. I personally don't see kittens at pet stores anymore. It's usually the human society w/ cats/dogs for sell at pet stores.

Going w/ the human society is the best personally. Depending on where you live I think it would honestly depend on the price.

W/ the human society, if you agree that you'll have your cat spayed/neutered they will give you a certain amount back. So if you get one for say $90, you could possibly get $50 back if you get the cat fixed and send the receipt to them.

I'd say call your local human society and see if they have any kittens, and see what the cost is.

  3. How much ARE the kittens at a pet shop

  4. go to kijiji.com and look up kittens and there are HUNDREDS of people selling kittens and puppys and animals and electronics and stuff like that for really cheap.. some kittnes are even FREE. with shots.. so you should check it out

  5. Well, let's see.... you could either...

    a) go to a shelter and adopt a kitten.  For an adoption fee around $100 you'll get a kitten or cat that's spayed or neutered, up to date on shots, deflead, dewormed, tested for disease and microchipped.  You'll also be saving a life as most shelters are "kill" shelters and only keep animals there for a short period of time before they're euthanized.

    b) go to a pet store and pay about $150 and get a kitten with none of the above done which will cost you another $300-$400.  Then you'll also realize that this is a very sickly kitten that you bought because most pet stores buy their kittens from "mills" that churn out puppies and kitties with the focus on "product" and nothing on their health.  You'll also have a kitten that hasn't been socialized since it went from a cage at a backyard breeder to a cage at a pet store and has had little handling or interaction with humans.  So maybe $500 in vet bills and three weeks later you'll have a dead kitten and be out about $1,000.  Plus you'll realize you supported the breeding of non-pedigree cats for profit.

Let's hope you make the right decision...

  6. Why would you buy one when you could rescue one from a shelter??? If you're in Australia try this site to be matched with a kitten http://www.catprotection.org.au/adoption...  or this site http://www.cat-match.com.au/(pxo5wj553r5...

Both sites have cats that are in shelters and available for adoption.

  7. Humane Society is nice.

$90 for the kitty I recently got.

About $40 for the needs for a kitten.
