I am interested in how much my horse is worth. He is an 8 year old paint and he is about 16hh. He is dead broke and anyone can ride him. He trail rides easy and does not spook at ANYTHING! I have started him on barrels and he knows the pattern and is FAST! He also ride alone or with others and does not kick at anything. He bathes well and is great with the fly spray and for the farrier. I only bought him for $500 but I have put ALOT of work into him over the past years.

I am not looking to sell him but i was wondering how much he would be worth.

  1. i would say around $3,000 if the horse is by far suitable for a beginner or a learning adult. i would say anywhere from 6,000-10,000$$$$ if you get the horse turning barrels pretty good. if you are interested in selling him take him to local shows and let him compete. if you take him to a few shows i'm sure you'll get a few reasonable offers

  2. It does not depend on really how much you bought him for as long as you trained him and now he is better, like you said.

I would say $5,000 - $8,000 would be your estimated amount.

Since he is good on trails, with anyone riding him, barrel races, and does not spook is a great thing that most people look for. So i would sell around that price.

  3. This estimate is based on the current local (Central KY) horse market and based on a non-registered paint horse.  Realistically $1500.

However, since he is what seems to be a kid-broke horse and a beginner could ride him, you could get as much as $2500 out of him to the right person.  THAT doesn't happen very often as many people who are looking for a kid-broke horse don't want to pay that much for one.  The horse market is really down right now and horses (really nice ones including registered ones) are going at low, low prices so it does make it more difficult to estimate a horse's worth.

Glad you're not going to sell him!

  4. I'd have to see him...maybe put up a pic? But he sounds like a great horse...I would probably give you around $2,000 based on your description of him...he isnt really trained into a specific event, other than a beginner's horse...You have started him on barrels tho...which is good...if you know what your doing...im sure you do...if you want to increase his value send him for professional training, or work with a respectable legit. trainer.  Does he trailer well?? You may want to work on this if you ever do want to sell him...also how is he for clipping, de-worming, needles, dental work etc etc....??

    Happy Trails

  5. Well he sounds like a sweetheart, and that you've put alot of work into him....

Considering that he is dead broke and has got some color...and the market pretty much sucks right now, Id say about 3,500 ish..

However since you've started him on barrels and hes fast, Id say if you got him going as a solid barrel horse, and since he's flashy then you could sell him for 7000-9000 easily!

    Hope I was helpful! :)

  6. I would say he is worth $5000. One he is dead broke, and if anyone can ride him, that's a huge plus! Being a beginner and trying to find a horse that you can ride really helps and can really make his price go up. Also having a horse trained in a certain discipline also helps. A fast barrel racer can earn big $$ at a horse show. Three a horse not being anxious around new horses is also a huge plus in selling a horse. Plus a registered horse adds about $1000 to what I would say is how much he is worth. I hope I helped!

  7. i think $4000 is a good solid price that people wont try and barter you down from it. if you are a power seller, go for $6000. it all depends on how well you can sell your horse.
