How much is my horse worth?

Ok, I'm bored, and I've noticed that quite a few people are asking this question so I thought I might as well jump on the bandwagon! Lets go for Stevie, he's 12yo 3/4 TB and 1/4 ID. He's an ex hunter, was shipped over from Ireland to be the Hunt Master's horse but the man who shipped him over (a racehorse trainer in North East UK) had a relative who bought him to hunt. Huntings all he's known. I got him at 10yo and taught him to show jump, he's qualified for:

David Broome SJ Championships of Great Britain (95cm, 105cm, 115cm) - twice

Trailblazers SJ Championships (95cm, 105cm)

He didn't go to the finals as I had work commitments and couldn't take him. He is competing in Prelim unaffiliated dressage, and has done a few Novices and is showing potential. His self carriage and work at home is fabulous but his show nerves need work! He is renowned in my area for jumping a 7ft hedge whilst out hunting, he will jump anything you put him at, and is honest as the day is long.

  1. i cant say im an expert but i think about 6000 euro which is about 4500 - 5000 Pounds Sterling..

  2. he is a good horse if he learned all that...  is he in good shape and how does his coat look?  Does he still have all his teeth and are his hoofs clean and healthy in color.  ")

  3. well if he was sold as an ISH or for XC or jumping you would probably get anything between £4900 - £7200 (because of his age). If he was being sold as a hunter, then people won;t want to pay to much because of the strain etc put on their legs and so you would probably get between £3000 and £4500.... but to someone, the horse is worthless. He doesnt exactly have the best of jumps, but has been proven as you have said by qualifying. has fairly good conformation but then is blemished from hunting..... some of these people giving realy stupid prices need to get their heads checked becuase people just dont want to spend that much unless it is an exceptional horse.

  4. I'd say he was worth around £5-£6500 region nice horse and has been brought on nicely by the looks of him, I don't agree with the person who said he only has about 2-3 years left in him before arthritis kicks in that's not entirely true. My friend has a 24yo Polish Warmblood that she still competes weekly at dressage and she XC's him also and he is as fit as a fiddle and needs no pain relief or extra supplements!! Good luck with your priceless boy xx

  5. What you can get for him.

He looks to be a nice horse but not a novice ride.

By the way it is incorrect to advertise on this site.

But I will not report it.

  6. £2.99

  7. your horse is gorgeous and he looks like he is a valuable jumper so i would say anywhere from 15,000 to 30,000.

  8. think your horse worth a few quid say about £5-6000

  9. I'd say he's Priceless!!

Nice looking horse....love the brickwork of an english barn and the unusual tile roof!!

Continue to enjoy and love him as you already do!!

  10. 20,000 to 45,000 and ive seen people buy horse not even close to having his ablilities for 50,000

but then againg the value goes down b.c. soon he will be 131 and out of his prime years- theyr prime years a 5 to 12

  11. 20,000-30,000 umm sumhow i dont think so !

Personally i think that u wouldnt get any more than £5000 MAX.. hes 12 and hes got what 3 years left if that befour his joints begin to play up ... iv done a bit of hunting with one of my mare after half a days hunt she came back lame .. if thats whats hunting in half a day can do ..  that whats been happening throughout most of your horses life..i really enjoy hunting i think its a great sport ! and the horse love it buh what it put the horses joints , bones... through is criminal

You wouldnt be able to show him (Splins ..leg injuries..Scars).. as for showjing hes still unaffiliated.. even tho hes qualified for david brom etc u only need double clears..

An advantage of him being an ex hunter shows that he is a very brave horse and also very trustworthy and safe ... and its acctually quite suprizing what people will pay for saftey!

Get the most out of him naw!

Good luck with ur future shows :D x x
