How much is my horse worth

This horse is not for sale at the moment and i'm not trying to sell him on here! Just wanted to know how much you think he's worth. Oh and i live in Texas.

Twister is a registered 13 yr old bay appaloosa

He is 16HH. He was previously trained to be a barrel horse but he wasn't very good at it so i took him off the barrels about 2 years ago. He is a good trail horse and is not spooky. He loads, ties, clips, de-worms easily, bathes, has good ground manners, stands for the farrier, saddles and bridles easily. He needs an experianced rider, cause his last owner taught him to bite the bit and run, run, run, so he has lots of get up and go and can be hard to handle. He is a very sweet, loving, quiet horse.

  1. 2000 - 3000

  2. i would say $1250. then again i dont know the non show horse market very well..but he is very cute :)

  3. About two to three grand, your not going to get much more for a 13yr old gelding thats really only a quiet hack or that has someone elses bad habits.

What the h**l price are you expecting to get for it? 10 grand?

  4. Does he have a show record?  He's cute and has decent conformation, though his feet are rather small and his head is big with a coarse throadlatch.  I would estimate maybe $1000 - $1500, depending on your market.  He looks like a really nice guy!  Have you done anything with him to retrain him when he "bites the bit"?

  5. 1000 -3000

  6. I don't deal in this type of horse, but with his age and knowing he is NOT able to be ridden by an intermediate or beginner rider, and knowing how the horse market is right now, I'd say $500.

Please don't take that as an insult, but that is a reasonable price in today's horse market (in general).  Most buyers are looking for a bombproof horse and since he's not, the price goes down.  Most buyers are not interested in an older horse either, so that has an impact on his price.

He is good looking, though.  Hope you enjoy him for a long time!

  7. I would sa between $2200-$3000

He has VERY unique markings :) and you said he is pretty quite on trails. He is definetly tall enough for a good sized man, and he also has a good bone structure...those are all good things about him.

The only thing is a horse who takes the bit and runs can be very dangerous, and that very sentence would make alot of people stop reading. If you worked on that I think you could get a good $4000 MAYBE even $5000 but I think the "sales world" isn't doing very well presently :P

    Good Luck...gorgeous appy xD

  8. I'd say around $2000 to $3000

I'm English though, so things maybe different over there in prices. Either way he had very nice markings!

  9. i would say 1500$-2000$

  10. We bought an older appy QH gelding a few years ago that fits the description of your horse almost exactly (except this horse was a hunter/jumper and 18 and liked to give the impression that he was mean - he pinned his ears whenever anyone went in his stall, but if you just ignored it he turned into a puppy dog. His previous owner did a real number on him, but I won't get into that) Anyway, based on the fact that he was older and had the "grab the bit and run" issue, we only paid $1000 for him.  It took about 6 months of love and he turned around and made the best lesson horse EVER. Once he was happy and "fixed"  I would have valued him at $2000 just cuz of his age (He was probably a $7500 horse in his younger days). Sadly, he died suddenly of severe colic about 4 months ago :(

So I would probably value your horse somewhere in the $1500-3000 range (lower end if you don't fix his issues, higher end if you do)       :)

  11. 2,000

  12. in this market, you will be lucky to get $500 for him.

He can't be ridden by beginner or intermediates

    He bolts

He just does trail (which if he bolts, I highly doubt he's a good trail horse!)

Also he's 13. Most people if they are going to take on a re-sale project, look for horses under 10.

  13. like 1500

  14. I would say around $1,500 as he needs an experienced rider and is older.

If you can train him not to bite the bit then probably $2,500

  15. I'd say $1,000

He is cute enough, but he has some past issues that you are working on, and he's not that you and hasn't acomplished as much as I'd like for his age.

    Love his markings.

  16. i say 2000 he does look like a good barrel racer i know a good barrel racer when i see one

  17. 1,500

  18. I agree with Loggy, he dosen't have the best confermation, and has unusal markings.

  19. id say about 2,000

  20. well, first of all, he isnt a bay.

he is a dark colored chestnut  http://www.wrwestwind.com/For_Sale/IMAG0...

anyways, hmm, he looks like he has good conformation, great temperament. can he go on a ride for a long time??

i would say 500-1500 dollars, just because of his age. people usually retire their pleasure and competition horses at around 20.

but if he was a 4 year old, he would be alot of money..

    he is super gorgeous though!!!!

  21. I would say probably about 2,000-3,000 dollars, but in my opinion, you can't really put a price on horse ownership

  22. 2,000 i would think

  23. i would say about 1500

  24. I think about 3000. If you decide to sell don't sell to the first buyer that comes along, make sure you get the right price. If nobody is interested DO NOT let him go for next to nothing just to get rid of him. you will regret it. just wait and the right buyer will come!

  25. 3,000

  26. No more than $1,000. I wouldn't even pay $700 for him since you say he's got so much training he has to be taught.

  27. I would say about $2,250 obo. i wouldnt put it firm either. He could use more muscles and since he isnt suitable for an intermediate rider that really hurts you on the market.  I hope you  have lots of fun with him, if you love your horse then he is priceless to you!

  28. He is a nice horse.  I think you can ASK any price you want it's what you get that determines his worth.  He has a lot of training and he could learn not to bite the bit and not run so much, but this is usual for a horse that is used to running the barrels as you know.  True todays mkt is low, but that is only for horses without training or too old to even ride or thin etc.  This horse has a lot of good years left in him and I think someone would love him.

    Price $950/1500

    I live in Texas too.

  29. Anyways...to another gamer who might be on the market for a horse...I'd say $1500. He's cutie.

What is it with people not liking anything over 10 anymore? Grrr.

  30. 2,200

He is so cute! I'd buy him if I could but I just bought a horse lol
