I know I have asked this question before but I have photos now.

My pony isn't actually for sale; I'm just curious.

Breed: Appaloosa

Age: 14 or 15

Height: 14.2hh

Good:

Enjoys jumping - jumped up to 1m but could easily go higher

Perfect ground manners

Self-loads

Done Natural Horsemanship and ridden bitless

Done Pony Club (But got bored of it)

Huge personality which is probably an Appaloosa trait

Bows

Gone to a couple of shows

Loves trail riding, endurance and western pleasure

100 percent bombproof and safe

Inquisitive

Loves new things

Safe for learners

Will go the extra mile for advanced riders

No vices

Bad:

Not registered

Needs an assertive rider

Does not like dressage or arenas

Abused in the past so needs paitence when his feet are handled

Tell me what you think he is worth in NZD (New Zealand Dollar)

  1. I dont know new zeland dollars but not liking the arena is not a very good thing

  2. I would say about 12,519 NZD. The fact that he is friendly and easy to manage would appeal to riders. He seems more than willing to appeal to his owner and seems like a confidence builder. His markings are cute but, some people prefer a more solid color coat. Also, many riders will not like the fact that he is not easy to deal with in arenas. If you sold him to a pony cluber or someone who would be patient with him i see no problem with the price above, but people who are more competitive with their riding might not be as interested. Most people would also outgrow this pony so that would make the price go down. Sorry to be so picky but, i thought you might want to know why your pony would be priced the way he is!

  3. Chubby little man isn't he?

He's cute so that definitely helps.

It is hard to keep in mind that your pony will always be worth more to you than to anyone else, so I'd like to say please don't be offended if someone thinks your pony is only worth ____ amount etc. They are giving you their opinion without knowing him, which is the same thing a buyer would do if your horse were for sale (which I know you said he's not).

If he's pretty decent under saddle, that is, he has his flying lead changes, can come onto the bit, is a good and cute jumper and really cares for his rider, you can look at an easy $5,000 (US). I can only give you an estimate based on the current US market and only in US dollars. You can convert it I guess to whatever NZ would be.

If he were in the US I think you would be looking at $3,000 to $5,000 US dollars. The market is hurting right now, and I am giving this based on the info you gave me. His biggest 'hurt' point is his age. Ponies last longer than horses it is true, but after they get too old they can't be working as hard or jump as high as he may be able to.

    Well good luck!

  4. probably 1,000 us dollars. he seems a little chunky?

  5. I would say between 3,000 and 5,000 because of his age and the fact he doesn't like areanas. Sounds good otherwise.

  6. 1000

  7. 3,000

  8. Hmm, you didn't say how old or what show circuit.  But most likely I'd say $5,000- $7,000 USD(thats $3589.505 - $5025.307NZD).  He looks a little on the chunky side, don't take that offensively, it's just something to take into account.

  9. Cute horse! I would say about $5-10 thousand CND. Not sure what that would be in New Zealand. I would look around to see what horses like yours are going for in your area.

  10. Well... you say safe for learners, but you say needs advanced rider and doesn't like arenas...So large pony Hunters bring top dollars if they win Hunter Classes in Large Pony.

A great mover and Champion Hunter Pony in A shows could be worth $10,000.00 to $46,000.00

B shows and C show Champions in Large Pony Hunter can be worth just about the same.

A good (not great) Large Pony Hunter Prospect....$1000.00 +

  11. first of all do u live there because it absouluty beautiful.... wow!!!!  CUTE PONY but ur pony isnt reg. so thats a big big draw back and his age... i would say $800 to $900 (US )so $1,110.80 to $1,249.65 (NZ)
