yo the fishing is good at every port and the newspaper on thursday print the fish report pick and choose what you want and call the docks to get the scoop they all have websites and one of my faves is helgrens in Oceanside and in Newprot Beach I like davey's but kids better know how to fish from a pier (and be good with it) before you clutter the deck with rookies... fishing involves patience and peace and quiet also do the kids swim? not knowing the choreography of the deck and back and forth to the bait they can easily get knocked into the water. All persons over 16 years of age need a licence.

just went fishing out of san diego (the best for deep sea, preferred), and the price for a junior or a senior is $32 per. the price for adults is $42. if the child is over (sorry again)16 years of age, then CA law requires that they have a license, otherwise, you are fine. you may here that there is also fishing out of oceanside (accidently said coronado earlier, sorry), but, although it is cheaper (i think), the fish do not bite as well. as a novice, i am guessing that you will be going on a half day trip. i strongly recommend that you go early in the morning, instead of the afternoon. the will be about half as many people, and there be more fish in the morning. they will have rods to rent, and there will food on board. live bait is provided.
