How much is the average Gerbil or Hamster?

I've been thinking about buying either one.How much are they usually?

well i don't know how much agerbil is but hamsters are about 5-10 if so a little more that's how much i get my hamsters for have loads of fun!

I just bought two gerbils today and I have a hamster. I got the hamster at a Petsmart for around$17 but it really depends on what kind it was, mine is a Syrian. The dwarf were like $20. I am pretty sure the gerbils that I saw at Petsmart were around $20 also. I just bought two gerbils at the mall today and they were around $12 each. I would suggest gerbils. i just got them today and I already love them. just remember if you do go for the gerbils to get two of them, they will suffer from a depression type thing if they are alone. they are EXTREMELY social animals. But, if you decide on a Syrian hamster, they are NOT social at all! don't put more than one in a cage. and if you get a dwarf, you can get more than one. it is easiest if they are from the same cage/tank at what ever store you go to.

The average hamster or gerbil is about 15$ - 20$ at petsmart.

A good cage is around 30$ - 50$. A Carefresh 60 Liter is 24$, food and treats are around 20$ if you include some wood for them to bite on and a vitamin l**k. A Hamster/Gerbil ball is around 5$ - 10$ which u HAVE TO HAVE they LOVE IT! A wheel 7$ - 15$ depending on the size or hamster/gerbil and the quality of the wheel. And obviously you have to have a food bowl and water bottle which are together around 10$. in total depends on the quality, the cost will be from 60$ - 90$ and don't for get that you have to keep purchasing bedding and food and change your cage every 1 - 1 1/2 weeks!

That really depends on where you buy them.  Try checking out craigslist.com and see if there is a list in your area.  People often have small rodents cheap or even free.  For a plain gerbil you can expect to pay $5-$10 in a petshop, the hamster depends on what sort you are looking for.

Gerbils, generally, are anywhere between $5 and $15. Hamsters, generally, are anywhere between $8-$20. However, it varies from place to place. This is what I've seen in my area.

Please keep in mind that gerbils are social and should be kept in same s*x pairs. If you decide on a gerbil, please get either two males or two females. Two isn't much more work than one. In fact, one may be more work, because you'll have to find more time to spend with it. No matter how much time you spend with a lone gerbil, though, it doesn't make up for the fact that it must sleep alone, groom itself, play with itself when you're not around, etc. Lone gerbils can live shorter, less healthy lives. A pair of males or a pair of females would be great.

it depends where you buy it from...like if its a pet shop you can buy it from 5- to 10 dollars...but if its adopting one from somewhere its probably 10 or higher...so a good estimate is about 5-10
