How much is the average corner shop paid to run the lottery in the UK?

Our local shop-keeper is a right misery when I ask her for a print-out of the lottery numbers.

She says something like, "Why don't you check the papers or the TV"? I told her that they were well paid for their trouble, she wasn't amused.

So how much on average do they get paid? It's probably related to their turn-over, I would just like to know an average figure.

  1. The average is irrelevant, because if her sales are low, she will be making less.

But for every £1 of sales, she should be getting 5p.  But that can mount up over time.

As for her attitude, if she is the owner, I'd vote with my feet and show her than I can shop elsewhere.  It's unreal that a shopkeeper would talk to a customer that way.

  2. I believe it's 5 pence for every ticket sold.

  3. 5% of sales.  You asking her for a printout of the numbers actually gained her nothing.

Your question didn't mention whether or not you bought anything in the shop but if you were buying other things or you are normally a regular customer then it's a bit rude.
