How much is the average electricity bill in the UK now?

I live in a two bed flat with hubby and my younger sister at the moment, and it costs me £30 a month. This isn't split either.

When it is just me and hubby, it's about £20 a month, even in winter.

We are also more electric dependant as we have an electric cooker. We also use a prepay meter which is supposed to be expensive.

It depends on what type of house and how many people. Not sure about the average though.

P.S I wanted to add, that although a lot of people are finding bills hard, simple things like turning off lights or adding extra curtains in winter and putting on extra layers actaully do help with gas etc. I think people do need to realise that bunging on the heat when it gets a little cold and the days of cheap fuel are over. people lived on a lot less in my grandmothers day and didn't have benefits either.

if you take the extra mile and put in energy saving bulbs,heavy curtains,extra layers,turning off lights,using less water in kettles and washing machine then it can save money. I know because I have seen the difference it makes. Used to spend alot, now I don't .

Our gas is only £6 per month!!!! And we live in an old draughty wooden window rented place, with an old boiler and no insulation in the walls. It can be done. So don't worry!

alot i pay £10 per week £40month £480 a year, everything is dear now, food, petrol, mortgages,  pay the same for gas too.

Don't get me started on this one. Mine has risen from 28 pounds a month last year to 45 this time round. Its getting that scary im terrified to open my mail. How this bloody government expect us to find all this extra money is beyond me.

Do they think we have all got money trees in our back gardens.

Don't know about average but mine is £180 a quarter.
