  1. why wouldnt you want to wear a helmet? itll save your life one day. and wear your gear.

  2. The statewide schedule for a violation of California Vehicle Code section 27803 calls for a fine of $108. This amount includes applicable assessments, but depending on your county it will be within a few dollars of this amount.

P.S.  Quig submitted proofs of correction for four of his nine helmet citations because "Any—and thus every—equipment infraction in the enumerated divisions is potentially correctable—i.e., the subject of a “fix-it” ticket." (See Veh C § 40303.5(d).)  Although he was never fined for the remaining five, he would have been "because his infractions posed the type of immediate safety hazard that the Helmet Law was designed to mitigate, if not eliminate."  (See Veh C § 40610(b)(2).)

So, the fine for violation of California's helmet law can be anything from $108 up to $10, "proof of correction", and an argument worthy of Supreme Court review.
