Cost of the Cork:   $ 0.05   [five cennts]

Cost of the Bottle:  $1.05   [One Dollar and Five Cents]

Procedure:

a) If cork price is x then bottle price is x+1

b) Cork price + bottle price equal One Dollar and Ten Cents i.e. [(x)+ (x+1)] = 1.10

c) This means [2x +1] = 1.10

d) which is euivalent to 2x = 0.10

e) Hence, x = 0.05
