How much is the price of gold today 7/12/2008 closing on 7/11/2008?

I am looking to see gold as scrap, gold in new pieces,and silver as scrap and new pieces.I am going to different jewelers that buy gold to see what the best price is,I just want to know what I am up against and the real prices versus what they will pay.Any feedback to help me not get ripped off or sold for alot less than I should. Thanks

Prices change constantly, you can monitor them online:

http://www.kitco.com

Dealers will charge you a small percentage over "spot", or pay you a small percentage under "spot", for items valued primarily for their gold or silver content.  Rare items or finely worked jewely goes for even more.   If you just want to buy and sell gold or silver, you might check coin dealers as well.
