One way1st Class Lower Berth from KL- BKK you be looking at around RM 300. Leaving KL at night, Transfer in either Padang Besar or Hat Yai and on to BKK arriving Hua Lampong about noon.  It's fun if you have never tried.  Try the Thai food in the Thai train. I prefer to book the lower berth (more leg room) for such a long trip

You should ask this question in the Malaysia YA since your coming from Kuala Lumpur.  The cost would be in Malaysia currencies not Thai baht.

Paying $10 for a $27 ticket is not my idea of a good deal.  The cost of mailing is more then 1/3 the cost of the ticket.
