How much is this gun worth??

someone gave me a colt .38 special police psitive revolver. it is in great condition. it also has pearl grips. i couldnt find one like it on the internet and i really dont know much about it. i need to sell it,butwhat should i expect to get from it?

Sorry that I cannot not tell you the answer directly, but if you go to a local gun shop or Gander MT, Bass Pro, Cabelas, they would be happy to tell you.  :)

From the results I got I expect the gun is worth somewhere in the $300 range.

Here is the problem with your question. In order to tell you the value one needs to know the amount of original bluing or finish, the condition of the bore and other factors such as high or low serial number. You could get a general idea by going to the library and see if they have any books on gun values? You could probably call the local gun shop and ask but you will probably get asked to bring it in so they can examine it before setting a value.

It is hard to appraise a firearm without seeing.  I can tell you that Colts do command some collector's interest, especially the older ones.

There are 3 versions of the police postive, but all run within $50.00 or so of each other, so here is the value of a standard police positive:

Excellent= $450.00

Very Good=$300.00

Good= $250.00

Fair= $200.00
