How much is this worth in America?

I know i already asked this but i forgot to add a pic of the coin!! I know the coin was made in mexico in 1988 and that in mexico it was worth $1000!! but i want to know how much its worth here!

  1. Well I dont know if this counts but 1000 pesos is $97.38 in US dollars. But I dont think thats a peso...


  2. In exchange value, about 9 to 10 cents US.

    That's because in 1993, Mexico devalued the Peso, and 1,000 old Pesos (what your coin represents) were worth 1 new Peso.  One new Peso is worth around 9 to 10 cents today.  (That's if the old coins are still convertible/exchangeable in Mexico; if not, the coin is valueless, at least for buying things.)

    The coin you have is a 1,000 old Pesos coin, where the "$" sign signifies Pesos, not US Dollars.  You can find another picture of the coin here:

    This coin may have some nominal value to coin collectors; it sells at a retail price - what a dealer might charge a customer - for around $0.85 in a condition similar to yours:

    Generally, however, there isn't much collector demand for very modern, common, non-precious metals Mexican silver and gold coins, at least in the US.
