How much is too much for a soda?

I usually buy a 1 liter bottle of coke from a vending machine in the breakroom with dinner. Anyway I put the dollar in the machine and hit the Regular Coke button and it wouldn't vend.

I then looked and it said $1.25.

It was always $1 for a liter of coke ever since I started working 6 months ago.

I remember when 1 liter soda was 55 cents when I was a child.

  1. 100 $ is way to much lol jk 1 25 is a lot a 1 is just perfect just bring your own soda

  2. Yeah...the price of soda has def. gone up...here its a 1.75...I normally just get the can now...I would suggest just buying it in bulk and packing it...it;s much cheaper  to buy in bulk because you get more for you money.

  3. I think that new price reflects the fact that corn is not going into corn syrup. It is being made into ethanol now (something big agrabusiness has lobbied for for many years).

The price of soda is only going to go up and so will anything that has sweetener in it.

Bring your own soda to get a break on the price - in the machine you are paying for convenience (and that is priceless).

  4. I agree, $1.25 is far too much to pay for a soda.

They changed the soda machines where I work, too, sometime last fall, and I won't buy a soda from them anymore.  Soda is so ridiculously cheap to make, we should be paying a nickel for a can.

  5. Well i would say that 1.50 is to much for a soda!

  6. You might as well buy a 2 liter bottle for much less.

Walmart sells generic brand 2 liter soda for like less than a dollar.

  7. it only costs like 25 cents to make the bottle and that included labor, ingredients and transportation with the rising gas costs and profit for the company and seller

  8. Hmmm...that far back there were no litre bottles. :D

Seriously... in the ten(?) years that Coke and Pepsi have been doing the 1 litre bottle, I've never seen it less than a dollar.

The convenience stores in my area have been charging $2.03 (including a total of 13% tax) on a 1 litre bottle for over a year.

I've been paying $1 for a 355 ml can of soda for 5-6 YEARS.

    Good Luck!

  9. $1.25 is the going rate in our area too!  illinois, usa
