a team in my head to head league is seriously hurting at shortstop. i am thinking of offering him yunel escobar. i have jose reyes as my starter. the deal i am considering with him is, i would give up youkilis, c quentin, escobar, and bronson arroyo for berkman, jj hardy, and nick swisher. am i giving up too much? my starting lineup would be awesome ( derek lee, chase utley, jose reyes, chipper and mauer in the infield, berkman, braun, and either swisher, francouer, crawford or bruce as my third outfielder and one of them or brian roberts as my utility player. ) i think that i should probably make this deal but every time i look at the numbers i feel like i am giving up too much. i could use a nudge either way. thanks

  1. What it would come down to is how much you use Youklis, Quentin and Escobar.

If they are simply sitting on your bench anyway, you are getting Berkman for nothing.

You wouldn't even need to include Hardy or Swisher.  When would you EVER start Hardy over Reyes or Swisher instead of Berkman, Braun or Crawford.

On the other hand, how much MORE has Berkman done over Quentin.

A batting average that is outside the norm for Berkman?

I would offer Youkliss, Escobar and Arroro straight up for Berkman.  Depending on his team and who he would drop, it could be a fair trade, it may not be.

  2. I think you are giving up too much, but based on the rest of your lineup, and the fact that you wont have to start swisher, cause he sucks, I say go for it.  Hardy is playing better and you can afford to sit back and wait on Swisher to turn it around.  Just make sure you are set at pitchers.  Thats an awesome lineup though dude.

  3. It is fair and equal on both sides, do what you like, both sides are even in my humble opinion. Good Luck.
