My wife just asked me if i would pay $9000.00 to save my dog if she needed it? WHAT!! WHAT!!! I have a pit bull and she doesn't even bark at the mail man, We wanted a guard dog and what we got is a dog with a sleep disorder. My cats protect the house. I'm ready to give my dog a pink slip. Why would I pay for her to have serious vet care?

  1. I have paid over $2000.00 for a cat to have hip surgery who wasn't even a year old.. They are your pets you took responsibility for it, maybe $9000 is extreme, depending on the surgery, maybe there are other options? But over all, if you can afford it, I would give the dog whatever it needs.

Also a well raised pit bull is not a 'guard dog' but if your family was ever threatened, I bet she would kick in and protect you.

  2. It is something called love and responsibility.  Would you pay for your kid because to most dog lovers, their dogs are kids

  3. I would pay whatever I had to pay for care for my pets. Pet Insurance would help too !!!!

  4. Getting a dog is like having a kid; they're not always perfect, you just love 'em for who they are.

That being said -- if you got a dog JUST to guard, you got one for the wrong reason.  Get an alarm system, since that's what you were looking for in the first place.

So about this sleeping disorder; this is new to me.  What does it mean, and how does it affect the dog?  Or, is the sleep disorder only a concern of yours because the dog isn't guarding?

Dogs are not employees; they are part of the family.  They don't get "pink slips."  You should be willing to pay whatever it takes to keep this member of the family happy and healthy.

OK , just what I thought -- "sleep disorder" = your dog likes its bed and snores occasionally.  ALL DOGS SNORE!!!!  You're obviously a first-time dog owner (and obviously not a dog person, either)  If you've got an alarm, why do you need the dog to guard??  Seriously, HOW many intruders have broken into your house and gotten away with things since you got this dog??

If you give the dog love and attention, it will give you love back and will WANT to protect you in a bad situation.  If you keep up like this the dog might begin to think of YOU as the "enemy."

  5. I'd go bankrupt to save my dog's life.  I feel sorry for your dog since you feel that way.

  6. You're a jerk.

  7. If the dog is in a serious type of health condition, that would only prolong the suffering, then no.

If it was for a broken leg, etc., then yes it's worth it.

  8. You need to give the dog to the humane society or find someone who will actually take care of it and not talk **** about it. Pit Bulls are beautiful dogs. They are one of he best dog breeds I know of. Yeah my dog sleeps a lott and snores. SO WHAT! And I would pay any amount for my animals. I am going to be a Vet Tech and if you keep saying stuff about you not wanting to take care of you're animal when it needs you the most, I could call the cops and they can find out where you live and take it from you. I have legal rights to do that. So just give it to the humane society and let it live a life where it's owner actually cares about it. You people disgust me.

  9. your very selfish, i feel sorry for the pit if anything ever happens to her. and fyi, if a dog, any dog does not feel threatened, their not going to do a d**n thing. your pit loves people and has no problems, your the problem. your wife should give you the pink slip.

EDIT: oh my god your wacked. alot of people cannot have kids, so their dogs are their kids. dogs are just not dogs, their family! dogs love to be spoiled, just as much as humans! how much love before you put her to sleep? your sick in the head. don't even try to argue, you will not win! not in this forum anyway.

our dogs(2 pits and a cockerspainel/sheepdog), would get whatever vet care they needed, even if we had to borrow the money!

hope you don't have kids, they get sick all the time.

p.s. her pillow has nothing to do with it, our male pit snores blocks big deal. they also have their own beds, pillows, chairs, and places to go for time out. your jealous!

what do you mean my better people?
