  1. The normal vet visits are yearly for vaccinations, Coggins and health certificates (used if traveling with the horse).  All of this costs around $120 per horse around here (Central KY).  However, additional vet visits may be required if the horse gets sick or injured and the costs will vary according to the problem and treatments.

There are things you can administer yourself to save money.  If you know how to give injections, you can vaccinate your horse yourself.  DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TRAINED BY A VET!  You can de-worm your horse on your own, though.  It's done basically every other month and the type of de-wormer you use should be varied throughout the course of the year.  De-wormers range in price from $5.50 a tube to $15 a tube with the Panacur Power Pack costing around $50.  Check the internet for a schedule as I have mine written down at home.

The dentist usually visits yearly at a cost starting at $80.  With some horses, the dentist can visit every other year....but I wouldn't recommend that unless she says that's as often as she needs to see the horse.

The farrier should visit every 6-8 weeks.  Just a trim costs around $40 here and a full set of shoes $70 and up depending on the type of shoes and the farrier.

  2. with a full lease you will have to pay for everything  i pay around $76 for my horse and she only has front shoes  with nothing special
