I don't know the amount, but here in NJ we have one of the lowest gas taxes in the nation.  That may not last for long, however.

Interestingly, a few years ago (long before the current fuel price increases) a local radio commentator had discussed the NJ fuel tax with several politicians.  He reported that all the politicians complained rather bitterly about the low NJ rate.  The radio commentator was quite amused, as he correctly pointed out that a low rate should be looked at as something goood rather than bad.  

It goes to show the inverted sense of priorities many in state government acquire while being in office.

Note: don't rush to NJ to get away from taxes.  All other NJ taxes are among the nation's highest.
