We have a ranch style house (1200 sq ft) with a basement.  Our bill averages $65/month, and we set our A/C at 72 degrees F.  We save tons of money by enrolling in interruptible cooling, which means that if the electric company experiences a power shortage, they can turn off our AC.  This has not yet happened.
