Hello everyone, I am having a headlight issue. I have a Mitsubishi Eclipse 2003 RS. Here are the conditions:

1. Low beam does not work from left side.

2. High beam works on both sides.

I have not replaced with a new low beam. My question is to anyone that has experienced this situation.

1. Should I first try replacing the low beam, or should I just take to someone professional in case there's a wire connection problem?

2. Does anyone know what's the average you get charge to check for either a bad connector at the bulb or a broken wire or a bad splice?

3. How much does it cost to replaced the relay?

Thank you all

  1. Go to an autozone or discount auto parts and get the light bulb and replace the busted one if it doesnt work then get a tech to look at it. Light bulbs do blow out randomly specially if the light bulbs havent been changed since new.

  2. you should be able to do it yourself. Takes less than 5 min. Just go to the local part store, buy the bulb  #9003 (which is a single bulb containing the hi and low beam). They may have the brighter type that costs much more.

Next thing you want to do is to disable the day running light system that makes the head light go on when you start your car day or night. You can make it so that it only goes on when you turn the headlight switch to the on position. This will definitely help you and make the bulbs last much longer and also the headlamp reflector inside the headlamp will not fade as quickly as it is now. you should have a shop that you normally use to repair your mitsubishi. If not, find a shop that works on your type of vehicle ONLY and stick with them. If you want to own your car for a long time this will help you save money and they should be able to do it right and cheaper than the general mechanic shops. They would also put this bulb in for you for free labor. Good Luck
