  1. you can't homeschool for two weeks.  The programmes are yearly (or possibly for half a year/semester depending on circumstance). You have to enroll, and depending on the programme, it can run several hundred to a few thousand dollars. ♥

  2. I don't really understand your question. You want to enroll in Keystone for just 2 weeks? (You can't.) Or Keystone is the school that you hate? Think about the long-term effects of what you are deciding to do: If you don't finish the semester, you do NOT get those credits, unless you homeschool traditionally, then you parents can probably award you the credits.

It sounds like you want to switch to Keystone. They will not allow you to do just 2 weeks to finish off your first semester. Their program is going to be different. Talk to them for the best, most accurate information on what you are wanting to do.

  3. It's not worth homeschooling for two weeks - just take the time off school; get your mum to write you a note or write your own note (depending on what your local rules need) saying you won't be in school for the next 2 weeks. However, if you're in a country like the US where you need a certain amount of course credits to graduate, you're effectively stuffed/hostage to the system.

One of the big problems that seem obvious to me is that with high school systems (like America's) which depend on you completing x courses to get y credits before you can graduate is that it's reliant on you doing the entire course once started; unlike our system where you finish high school by doing a series of exams. Here, it'd be pretty easy for you to quit school part-way through the relevant course and it not have any effect on your ability to graduate; you'd just get a copy of the relevant syllabii and teach yourself the outstanding material before taking the exams exactly as you would have done if you'd stayed and done the whole courses through your school.

You can't just do 2 weeks of cyber-school...well, you could but you'd be wasting your time and money. As others have already pointed out, cyber schools sell their products by the year, not in terms of how many weeks.

Having stuck it out at school for all but 2 weeks, it has to be worth your while to just knuckle down and tough it out for the final two weeks. After all, you're only talking about another 10 days (maximum). If you quit school now (assuming you're there cuz you want to get your diploma), you'll have effectively wasted the other 38 weeks you've spent in school this year.

Stick with it and, if you want, enroll with the cyber-school (which incidentally is distance education, not true homeschooling) in February or whenever the new school year starts where you live.

  4. Since you are using an umbrella school like Keytsone, you wouldn't be able to pick up two weeks to complete your semester of public school, it doesn't work that way, unfortunately.

You will either need to finish out your semester with the public school in order to get the credit for it, or take the semester over with Keystone.

  5. Can you clarify the question?  I'm unclear whether you are currently in Keystone and want to do something else for 2 weeks until you turn 16, or if you're currently in public/private school and want to attend Keystone for 2 weeks until you turn 16.

If you're currently in Keystone, you need to finish out their semester in order to get the credits.  I don't believe they have any refunds.

If you're currently in ps and want to attend Keystone until your 16th birthday, you can't.  They don't work that way.  You have to enroll for the year and complete the work to gain the credits.

What you can do, however, is have your parents un-enroll you at school (sorry, it's early, can't think of a better term) and begin traditional homeschool.  This is where you and your parents sit down and figure out your coursework and schedules, you get your books, and you go for it.  You and your parents decide what you need to do in order to achieve the credits.  Because they are in charge of your education, they can decide to count your work already completed toward your credits.  They would also issue both your diploma and transcript, which nearly every college in the country will accept.

If you're transferring to Keystone, they may require that you finish out the semester at your current school.  I'm really not familiar with them, so I can't say for sure, but I'm not sure they "pick up" mid-semester.  You would have to check with them.

If that doesn't answer your question, please clarify and we'll do our best to help.  Good luck!
