How much jail time for missed court date?

my friend missed his court date the other day. it was for poss of open bottle in motor vehicle and poss of a butterfly knife. he went in today to surrender himself. they gave him 2 misdemeanors but now he missed his court date. very stupid of him. when will he be out

he wont get that long,my friend also has missed a court date and didn't have to spend anytime in prison it all depends on the judge/lawyers

Hmm...Depends on the judge. He's looking at at least 6 months to a year, maybe two. No more than 5 if he's a first-time offender. Possession of a non-firearm illegal weapon is a misdemeanor in most states. And what do you mean possession of an "open bottle"? Do you mean alcoholic beverage? Well the results of that will depend on whether or not the tests revealed him as having alcohol in his system. It's not illegal to have open beer bottles in your car if they don't contain alcohol. It's enough to search a vehicle and make you submit to a breath-alyzer test but not enough to charge someone.

There is no law against a open bottle in a motor vehicle or a butterfly knife that I know of. If it were alcohol in that bottle and your buddy had a few drinks, thats another story. Id fight both the charges . The FTA is probably the most serious charge. I bet 1 day in a small town 3 days in a big town
