The general "minimum" for a course of decent length (eg. over 6500 yds at the tips) is 150+ acres.  Depending on the land forms (creeks, ponds, flats, forests, dunes, etc., etc., etc.,) fairways may or may not be parallel to each other which is the ideal situation as it prevents errant shots flying at players.  The greater the amount of land, the greater number of possible course routes, "interesting" hole design possibilities, etc.

The Bandon complex in Oregon was built on THOUSANDS of acres, while older urban designs are sitting on sometimes less than 150.  Driving ranges add to the land needs, as do parking lots, cart barns, clubhouses, etc.

Most golfers expect a golf course to have 18 holes with a par of about 72, plus a practice range and practice greens.  This typically requires from 140 to 180 acres of useable land.  Nine holes with a par of 35 or 36 should take about half the acreage.  However if nine holes are built initially, it is still better if there is enough land to design a second nine at the same time, for eventual expansion to 18.

That depends on what you want to build.  But generally about 100 acres will be enough.  The more land you have the more interesting course you can build without the holes going back and forth next to each other.

A fair golf course can be built on a minimum of 65 acres.When brooks, rivers, bodies of water, rock ledges are present the acreage increases appreciably. You also require acreage for the clubhouse, parking facility, driving range and putting green which are additions.
