How much less gas have americans used compared to last year at this time?

  1. Check the NTS site.

    As of February private transportation had consumed 4% less gas then last year.

    When you add what would have been normal growth (4%) it comes up to 8% drop from expected traffic.

    Some states keep track of toll road traffic, and in some of these states the drop in tolls has been as much as 25%.

    There has been a "gas revolt" in the US, I hope we keep it up and do not forget so quickly.


  2. The NBC Nightly news answers this nearly nightly. The average has dropped this year, for this same time last year...2 (two)%.

  3. I've used about 1/5 of the gas i did at this time last year.... I bought a scooter for my daily commute that gets about 90MPG.  Even if prices come back down, i'm going to be riding it, its a lot of fun really.  I only drive the car when I have to (which is rarely)
