This maybe wrong but i heard that one barrel of oil holds 5.8 Million btu's and one pound of uranium can produce 30 million Btu's...

one pound of wood: 6800

one pound of coal: 12000 (energy consumtion will reach unpresedented hights in the next century, but many scienist are still looking at liquifing coal or gasifing coal!) It's just dumb

  1. the first answerer is right, by 2020. other scientists predicted it will end at 2015 and the most is 2050

  2. It would be profitable to drill for crude oil for the next 100 years, and with rise in the price of crude, it would be profitable to use production methods that increase the yield of oil digs, since with present methods only a small part of the oil is actually produced.

But if the international law about use of oil changes, or cheap renewable alternatives to oil are introduced, oil drilling will stop much sooner

  3. It will be generations before we run out of the oil that we know exists.  The Russians and Canadians have just laid claim to vast arctic areas with tremendous underwater reserves.  Many reserves in the US are off-limits officially due to "environmental concerns".  In reality, people are being reelected to Congress on the grounds that they are "protecting the local way of life from outsiders".  There are large untapped fields off the East Coast of the US.  In addition, there are new methods that allow played out fields to return to life.

  4. By the time that we run out of oil, we'll have an alternative.

  5. It depend on the price - well if you are willing to pay top dollars for it, then it can last hundredth of years more - long after we are dead - there are countries which still keep their oil reserve deep down in their soil.

It is easy to  buying oil from the middle east or just take it from there - invade the countries - drilling oil in the middle east is easier and cheaper.

Alaska has oil reserve - expensive to drill - north America - Canada do have plenty of oil  still- then again expensive to drill - it is deep in the earth - actually if people are willing to pay top dollar like 200 dollars a barrel now - they will drill the oil and process

  6. Today we have a 100% toxicity ratio in babies that have never taken a breath and you are toxic as well. The toxins are causing reproductive problems today.

We will die perish or mutate as a species and we will kill everything else on the planet.

Have you ever seen people drive cars? Would you ever have a meeting with your friends or family in a closed garage with your cars running? No, the emissions would kill you in a day.

Look around and think about consumption now, look at the traffic? I was in Los Angeles and thought there were forest fires, thank goodness we couldn't see across the valley because of pollution.

All of those pollutants end up in your water and food, we have to smarten up or the younger generations won't have an environment to inherit.

We are using oil to treat the symptoms of global warming. Go to http://www.thermoguy.com/globalwarming-h... and see actual images of energy.

  7. Not all have come to a generalized concensus as far as peak oil is concerned. That should not be of signifigance right now. We know our reserves are being depleted at an alarming rate. Now with India and China swinging their major league bats so to speak the supply will dwindle even quicker The range being quoted amongst the ranks is anywhere from ten to forty years before we will be forced to drive photon powered acceleration devices?

The GREEN movement is here and citzens like ourselves need to stand up and be counted. The US is headed towards dire straights if we do not rectify our ways. I"m not trying to sound like an alarmist but the gap between the rich and the poor grows wider each day in the United States fueled in part by price and demand for crude and those in power who exploit their position for monetary gain.

Push your local legislative representatives for funding and emission caps. We are a "people" and must act as a cohesive unit if we are to succeed and stay a player in the New World Order.

  8. Yes, we are running out of OIL. We will have to find alternate sources of energy.

But the worst part of drilling is that we are pulling OIL out of the earth and leaving nothing in its place. This can cause serious consequences like earthquakes, global warming, polar shifts and more.

You can not continually take from the Earth without consequences. We keep pulling all the liquid from the earths folds such as water and oil and we leave a gap.

Just seriously think about this dillema.

When you dry up a lake, the boats on the surface sink. When you remove coral from the ocean the marine life dies, when you strip the earth of vegetation, animals become extinct.

And so the story goes. We can not continue to rape the Earth of her OIL. There will be consequences.

  9. You are missing the availability of the energy source.

Oil reserves have long been predicted to end in the 2020s

  10. Many many years  grasshopper.
