How much makeup is acceptable for high school?

I am home schooled and am going to high school in a few weeks (11th Grade). I hardly ever wear makeup and am fine with it but I have to say I do look a lot better with some mascara and lip gloss :P

So I was wondering what would be an acceptable amount of makeup to wear for school.

BTW I have combo skin so if you have some advice. And my doctor gave me this cream for my face and wow does it work lol. I still have a few pimples but they're not red at all so do I need concealer? And whats the difference between concealer and like a compact?

Also I think I am going to go to like a MAC counter and have them one of those 'makeover' things.

Thank You :D

  1. Lip gloss, transparent mascara and some pink blusher

  2. everyone wears different amounts of makeup in high school.

some girls even wear none. yet others pound it on. haha

my advice? if you never really wore makeup...but wanna start...

go with the natural look i think that's always pretty. all you really need is some mascara, maybe a little bit of a bronzer or blush to give you a natural glow, and then some lipgloss and your all set.

oh and the difference between concealer and compact is that concealer is used to hide small imperfections. for example...you may have like 3 pimples and want to cover that up. or a blotch of skin. nd it's also used to cover up bags under your eyes. but a compact is basically cover-up to cover your whole face.

but i think you should just used a green concealer. and what that does  is that it evens out between the redness in your pimples to make them less visible. have fun on your first year of actual high school. =)

  3. Well if you want to make a good, lasting impression, then don't put TOO MUCH makeup on cuz first impressions are everything and if you mess up, you can never get that chance back. I suggest putting on a little bit of eyeliner, mascara and lipgloss but that should be it cuz if you put on too much, people will assume stuff about you (if you know what I mean!) Well good luck on your first day of high school and I hope this helped! :)

  4. mascara & lip gloss.. for sure.

Going to the MAC counter sounds fine too. You can also try Bare Minerals, it will give you coverage with that "natural look".

Don't think you can't wear eyeshadow though... it's fine, just know which colors accentuate your natural beauty. Use nice natural colors. Also, if you have small eyes or want to make them stand out, a bit of eyeliner is a must!

    Enjoy your Junior year!

  5. Try BareMinerals foundation, in the starter kit.  It's really not expensive at all for what you get - you get 3 brushes (which are all fantastic), a mineral veil that controls shine, 2 foundation shades, and a "warmth" color that makes you look more glowy, I guess you could say.  I have combo skin as well, and this stuff gives great coverage (just be sure to use the mineral veil so you don't get oily!) and doesn't make me break out.  The people here saying concealer will make it worse are wrong; it all depends on the brand of concealer.

Makeup acceptable for school: These days, pretty much anything goes. But most girls just wear mascara and lip gloss, sometimes with eyeshadow/liner but nothing too dramatic.  Just keep everything natural.

  6. For sure go to MAC counter and tell them you want a pretty but light and simple look. In stead of concealer you should use tinted face lotion so it doesn't clog pores. I would say for high school you should stay simple and away from the "fake" look. Use browns for liner and mascara and if your going to a party of dace use black. Also brown shadow is always a classic and looks great with anything. Ask the MAC person which shades would be best for your skin color and hair color.

  7. DO NOT WEAR FACE MAKEUP!

it will ruin your skin forever!

mascara, lip gloss and maybe a little eye liner if you want

  8. just wear light make up in school look natural and not made up. not like your going to a club.

  9. I would recommend going to a Sephora store over a MAC store.  People that work at Sephora actually have a background in cosmetology and are a lot more versed in their products.

I would recommend a foundation, maybe some powder, an eyelash curler, a good mascara and some tinted lip gloss.

Make sure you cover the bases with a good face cleanser and moisturizer.

  10. just wear mascara and lip gloss

    well eyeliner is good to

but you don't really have to wear make up if you don't want to, i never wear any and i'm okay looking...and everybody has pimples in high school

concealer will just make it worse

  11. Aw i hope you like high school! Anyway, wear enough makeup so its obvious you're wearing some, but not too much so it looks natural. I think no girl can go wrong with just some mascara and blush. Dont do foundation or anything, itll ruin your skin.

Just make sure you're as happy with yourself with or without makeup.

    Good luck!
