  1. mineral oil is probably more dangerous than most other catharetic laxatives because of the aspiration pneumonia risk. the prescription bowel kits are very safe and are  just various salts/electorlytes and PEG which isnt absorbed by the body. check with your doctor about what alternatives might be acceptable if you dont want to use what he prescribed. some laxatives including home remedies can be harmful in people with certain health conditions, and you want to make sure it cleans it out properly so they dont have to redo the procedure

  2. I don't know much about mineral oil. However, If you have a juicer, I recommend making apple / pear juice. It is a natural laxative.  A one glass serving is about 2-3 apples juiced with 2-3 pears. Strangely, eating the fuit without juicing it will not produce the same results. There is an enzimatic interaction when the fruit juices are mixed.  Bye the way, it tastes fantastic....better than mineral oil, I'm sure.  :  )

Good luck to your husband and well wishes for healthy results with the colonoscopy.

  3. seat salt and water. depends on how much sea salt you use in the water. I got one of those drink shakers. Put a quart of water and few tables spoons of sea salt. Then you chug it. You should be running to the restroom in about 15-25 min.

    That stuff cleans you out!:)

  4. Why go for oil if water does the trick?

    Water, water and more water.

You could add some salt to it too if you wish to.

*Start the day, before you get out of bed, with a big glass of water kept at room temperature. I keep a 600 ml bottle on my bedside table and it works wonders. Keep having lots of water during the day. Throughout the day - except for the morning drink - it is better to drink OFTEN, little quantities rather than one huge quantity at once . This whole processus cleanse your bowels.

*Plus, in my country, we are forbidden to eat anything during the last 24 hours prior to this intervention.

    Good luck to your husband.

  5. They give a guide for this from the doc- please follow it! Call the office and ask them for an organic info if you need it but just go by the list - that way the test will be as close to 100% as they need! Best of luck  and I think he is a great guy! (trying to get my hubby to get a full exam!)

  6. One cap full should do ya. I do this on occasion. It works pretty fast and comes out easily. He may want to try two since he's having a medical procedure though.
