  1. If you're going on a school tour may I assume that your hotel room is also paid for?

If that is so then what we are talking about is money for incidentals like snacks, sodas, and maybe some souvenirs.

If that is the case then 20-25 euros a day should be plenty.

  2. Just keep in mind that :

-life is more expensive in Paris than in New-York city, about food, transportation, restaurants, nightlife...

-the change rate between the US $ and the Euro is 1 Euro for 1.40 $ !!!!!

  3. I'd say around 4 grand. It really depends on what your going to buy their.

  4. budget for about 300.00 a day.. live large

  5. I went to France this past August and things are REALLY expensive!  So, since you got the dinners covered, then I would say 500 Euros, which means about $700 US dollars.  That may seem too much, but check this out, at a brasserie (bistro) near Musee D'Orsay in Paris, lunch for 4 cost about 100 Euros, and a coca cola costs about 6 Euros, which means about $8 US dollars.

    Other costs to think about:

Climbing the Eiffel Tower, about 22 Euros for all 3 levels, Louvre - 12 Euros, I believe, Musee D'Orsay - 15 Euros.

Current conversion rate is: 1 Euro = $1.38 US dollars.

Not to scare you, but don't be overwhelmed by how expensive it is.

  6. lots

  7. If you can bring most of the money in travelers checks (sterling, USD ok) you'll get a better exchange rate when you get euros (as well as the security of travelers checks). Non-euro coins are useless (bureaux de change won't accept them)  If you just need $ for souvenirs and breakfast and lunch, the sum of 20-25 euros/day seems about right.  It does depend on how much you will spend on souvenirs (clothes can be very expensive and you can spend hundreds of euros and more).  If you are old enough to have a credit card, you can also use a credit card.

The respondent below me brings up a good point about how expensive it can be on the continent.  Ppl used to laugh at me because when I vacationed in Europe, I bought almost all of my food from supermarkets (not mom and pop stores, not restaurants).  You can get alot of good food in the supermarket (just like French ppl do) and save some money.  It won't be dirt cheap, but I am confident that a can of Coca-Cola will not be 6 euros in a supermarket.  OTOH, some ppl will be upset if they don't eat in a sit down restaurant every meal.  It's up to you.  If you are a student, be sure to bring you student id (have everything PACKED the night before) so you can pay the student rate for museum entry.  If you are still packing minutes before leaving for the airport, you are likely to forget something (don't laugh, I've seen ppl do this). Bon voyage!
