The prizes vary depending to the amount of money in the pot and the size of the online room.  The largest online rooms include Poker Stars, Party Poker, Ultimate Bet+Absolute Poker, FullTitl and pkr.com.

With these rooms you can win six figure digits in an online tournament.  I am not aware of anyone winning in excess of one million for playing online, however this can be won through online jackpots.

It depends; How many people are in the tournament? How much is the buy in? Is it a rebuy tournament? Is there a gauranteed prize pool?

Basically there is no set amount, every tournament varies. The biggest upcoming tournament is on 888.com which is offering a prize pool of over $3 million with a gauranteed $1 million for first place. With the exception of this, generally Pokerstars & Full Tilt Poker offer the most tournaments at all levels of buy in and good prize pools.

usually, for whatever amount is advertised as "guaranteed," 20% of it will be the first place prize. e.g.: 100k guaranteed is usually a 20k prize, the sunday million is usually 200k, etc.

the biggest one i've seen is the 200k first prize at pokerstars for the sunday million. however, daily there are tourneys for up to 30k first prize.

It depends on the buyin and number of players...unless you're playing one af the guaranteed tourneys, then there is a minimum payout regardless of the number of players. You can win as little as $2 in a tournament ($1 heads up SNG) or millions.
