My husband and I are planning a small trip in Europe including three nights in Rome.

We would like to include the major tourist attractions (The Collesseum, Vatican, Roman Forums, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Castle St Angelo etc) but may have to take it a bit easy as I will be five months pregnant.

Including entrance fees and getting around how much money do we need for sight seeing?

Thanks!

  1. Here you can find the price for some sightseeings in Rome:

    http://www.siteseeings.com

PS: The entrance at the Pantheon is free

  2. buses are cheap, most of these things are fairly close as motor vehicles were not invented, tivoli, forum and Pantheon are free. st Peters is free but the Vatican museum about $20 and is where the Sistine chapel is. the Colosseum is about the same. dont miss the Vatican.

the buses shake on the cobbles like a earth quake and is noisy

  3. the cheapest way is take the underground train or the bus. I was in Rome in May of this year, this is what I can remember, if not exact, it should be pretty close: Colloseum about 15 euro; Vatican, about 12 euro; Forums, free; Patheon, free, Trevi Fountain, free Castle St. Angelo, I did not go inside. They have hop on and hop off buses, but I did not use it because I know it's a lot more expensive then the public transportation.

  4. Just got back from Rome...

3 days may not be enough... I went all over Europe and stayed in Rome for 2 days with not enough time. Most of those that you mentioned are free, the Collesseum was around $13 Euros, the Vatican was free but to get in their museum, it was like $15 Euros, the Pantheon was free, the Trevi Fountain was Free, the Castle was cheap I remember...

I recommend the Rick Steves Italy 2007 book before you travel. This shows current prices and even recommended places to stay. I used this and it really helped a lot. If you are unfamiliar, he Travels Everywhere and helps people like us see the best of the best...

Remember that the Currency rate is Horrible going to Europe. In Venice, it was almost $10 US DOLLARS for a Slice of Pizza... This was the norm... Its not going to be Cheap...

For two comfortably, I am going to say $600US after Hotel charges. The worst is to not have enough money out there... Also, take the busses instead of taxi's but since your are pregnant, it may be more convenient for the Taxi. Taxis are very expensive and busses seem to be the best choice, Everyone uses them. Get a Hotel that serves Breakfast, this is another money saver...

Feel Free to message me if you have any questions, as I was a tourist too in Rome...  Otherwise, Hope this was helpful. But most importantely, Have fun and Engage in Their Culture no matter how different it seems... Coffee to go, is unheard of!?!?!

  5. I spent 200 dollars a day.  My wife and I saw all the attractions and ate like crazy.  We had big dinners, lunches and breakfast, so this is the max. You can get along on 125 as well.

  6. There isn't much to pay for, except for the souvenirs that you would want to buy for your friends and family. Il Colosseo can be seen from the outside for free, and it costs around 15€ for non-EU citizens to get to the interior. You can get inside St. Peter's Basilica and St. Peter's square for free. The Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel (where Michelangelo's paintings are stored) costs around 15€, but every last Friday of the month, it's for free. When I got to Castel di San't Angelo, it was for free so you might wanna prepare around 8€ for the entrance. Fontana di Trevi, Piazza Spagna (Spanish Steps), Foro Romano, Il Pantheon and many other great structures are for free. I strongly suggest you visit the Trevi fountain at night coz it's really soothing and romantic! suggest you buy great souvenirs at Soprani's Store, just outside Vatican City coz religious items are really cheap. You can get a permanently scented rosary for just 1,5 €.
