  1. way to much

some up to 500,000 a year others on 1million over about 3 years

  2. Each club (with the exception of Sydeny and Brisbane Lions which is a seperate issue) have a salary cap of $5.9m per year. The average salary for AFL players is approximately $200k per year. In 2006, it was speculated the Carlton player Anthony Koutoufides earned up to $1m due to a 'back-ended' contract he was on.

Other elite AFL players such as James Hird and Ben Cousins may earn in the $500-600k bracket. Melbourne's Herald Sun reported the Kangaroos would be willing and able (due to room in their salary cap) to pay West Coast's Chris Judd $1m a year.

Rookies are payed a minimum of about $45k (excluding match payments) per season and must be signed to a minimum 2 year deal.

  3. anywhere between $50,000 (most rookies start off on around this much) to $800,000 (I think this is how much Chris Judd gets a year and I'm pretty sure he is the highest paid AFL player at the moment)
