I've never been on a cruise before and actually this is the first vacation I've ever gone on without my family. I want to have fun but haivng just gotten out on my own money is tight. How much would you say is average to spend if you just plan to relax and have a good time? I'm going to the Bahammas for 5 days then end of January, everything (flight, excursions) is already paid for, oh and I'm on the ship Elation. Thanks!

  1. You need to have a credit card for all on board charges and tips. You can also pay for tips in cash if you wish.

You need some money for souvenirs and things you do on shore.

It all depends on what you will charge and what you will pay in cash.

  2. Don't worry about money worry about enjoying the time. Well you should take about 2-3 grand.at least.

  3. while you're on the ship you won't need money because they just have you put everything on your master bill and bill you at the end for your drinks, food, souveniers, etc, that you get on the ship.  the only time you would really need money is when you leave the ship if you want to buy things, and even then you could use your credit card most likely.  i would say take no more than $200...have fun!

  4. 200$ or less will be enought

  5. 50.00 for tips per person(10.00 per day per person)plus if you drink anything on the cruise colas or alchol is 2.50-8.95 per drink.  Photos are 6.95-19.95 each and they have gift shops.  all this is not added in the cost of the cruise.  So I would say around 300.00. My husband & I usually spend 400.00- 750.00 on a cruise that is 7-12 days. Depends on what you do.

  6. 48.39

It is a 3 series article discussing about planning for your cruise, altought it is mainly discussing about mediterranean cruise, but generally I think is for all kind of cruising journey. If you would like to check the blog main page here is the link:

  8. It depends on if you are planning to pay cash for all of the onboard extras like alcohol and stuff.  I would say you will need about 500 bucks if you are planning on paying cash for that stuff. My husband and I had about a 1200 dollar bill at the end of our last cruise for 7 days, and we spent about 400-500 on land while we were there.  But we werent really watching how much money we spent.

  9. I'll be on the Elation right after you.:) we're going the week of Valentine's Day on the same cruise.  Since excursions are already paid for all you really have to worry about is the tips that they add on at the end of the cruise and the drinks.  When you get on board you have to give them a credit card as a deposit and they give you what is called a Sail and Sign card that you use to make all of your purchases on the ship with...drinks, souvenirs, spa services, etc.  At the end of the cruise they also add on the tips for the crew to the card.  You really need to bring little cash with you...only what you will spend on the islands when you are off the boat...like i said, you can't use cash on the ship.  I would say if you weren't a big drinker about a hundred bucks would cover your beverages and a couple little souvenirs.  Drinks are expensive so watch what you are buying and check your bill periodically at the concierge desk to make sure you aren't over spending.  Fruity umbrella drinks I think were almost $7 each last time I went and a beer was about $5 a bottle of soda is $5 too.  Speaking of soda...when you get to the room they will have an icebucke with like 4-5 sodas there for you....(they aren't included in the booking price...they charge you at the end)  If you don't want them give them to the room steward when he comes to clean the room.    If you drink soda get the "fountain fun card" It's like $20 or so and you can get unlimited fountain drinks.  Saves a lot of money in the long run.

  10. it depends on how much your bar tab, excursions and gifts add up to.

Try to stick to a daily budget, it is very easy to spend an extra 100.00 over your budget if not careful.

  11. 250.00 or more

  12. I'm not sure exactly how much you should take. But I do know that its EASY to spend a ton on drinks. However, if you wanted to create a sort of drink budget...you could buy yourself drink vouchers. You can find them on the carnival website under "Gifts" (for people to buy you and send to your cabin). That way, you could decide exactly how much money you plan on spending on alcohol before hand. Then all you have to do is stick to it! In the way of soft drinks, you can also purchase "drink cards". There are unlimited ones if you really love your cola and carbonated caffeine!

Excursions at your ports of call are another big expense. There aren't many good ones under $50/person. More likely to be about $100 each. So if you wanted to do one at each port....you get the idea.

Other than that, its really just dependent on how much money you want to spend on gifts and souvenirs!Hope that helps give you an idea!
