  1. I believe ToLazy To.. has the amounts right. However the money won goes to the team.  The atheletes are under contract and get paid accordingly.

Just like other pro sports, the best climbers, sprinters, time trialists and general classification riders are paid in the millions.  e.g. Lance Armstrongs contract with Team Cofidis, before his cancer and subsequent accomplishments with Postal and Discovery was $7,000,000.

  2. it depends on what you mean.  most riders recieve a paycheck just like you would.  then if they get endorsements they get more money for those.  some can keep their winnings, and some must give those to the team.  it is all negotiated in your contract.

i rode for delmonte back in the early 80's.  i didnt make much, about 7500 a season, and i could keep any prize money.  obviously, when you're a domestique, you're not commanding huge money to ride.  you dont do it for the money.  you do it because you love it.

no big riders will get all sorts of endorsements, do advertising, and all sorts of things and they can make millions in a season.  it just varies so much it is hard to answer your question.  even above, those are the prizes for the jersey compititions, but those riders are winning prize money out of the roads each day on top of that, and what they see can cover a whole range.

  3. Winner of Tour 450 000 Euros

    Green Jersey 25 000 Euros

King of Mountains 25 000 Euros

    White Jersey 20 000 Euros
