$10.00 -$20.00 per hour you generally start with a shovel to learn construction and from there you work your way up to  heavy equipment

Trainees get about AU$80,000/pa. It max's out around $120,000/pa for experienced employees (who usually have tickets for other equipment as well).

It does depend on whether you are employed directly by the mine (more) or an employee of a contracted company (usually a little less).

Employees at more remote sites generally get more to, but some companies pay for airfares or offer a bus shuttle service to offset travel costs.

Free accommodation & food while on site (in a camp) is standard as well. At the end of the day  most would get about $150,000 in $ & extras.

Australia is one of the best paying countries, even US pay significantly less.
