Any added details on your current financial situation would also be interesting. Just seeing how badly people may be hurting from the economic slow down.

Invested 25% of everyting I ever made.........retired at 60.........living on the beach........not a care in the world...........never took a student loan.........worked my way.........picked up 3 degrees........got married and stayed married..........living on on the beach........not a care in the world...........

hello - i am 40 and have 750K saved, i put away at least 25% of all I earn, and all yearly bonus money goes towards savings etc.  i have diversified well so have not felt market effects so far, but its not going up either, pretty much stayed flat for the past 6 months or so.  i am also aiming for 3 million before i retire, and i hope to retire at 57.

No debt, I recently paid off my mortgage. And have well over $1MM in various savings and investment vehicles. But I have a long way to go before I can retire. Figure I need at least $3MM.
