  1. my variable expenses are about $1K++ per month (excluding travels) and my fixed expenses hover around $700. I don't spend on housing as I still live with my parents and I do not own a car.

I expect my total expense to hit at least $3K once I start to own my house.

  2. a family of 4 in middle class singaporeans survive with a monthly salary of $1500 and all these things like bills, shopping, house rent, food own self cooking all can get through in hard earned money..

    money no enough 2

  3. Singapore is not an exceptionally expensive city (try london?). Rent monthy obviously varries but a decent sized apartment that's out of the way can be about $1500/1700 (singaporean dollars or £500 GBP a month) Which is not very expensive but the wages are much lower than in the UK.

Buying food to cook in your own home is very expensive and there are not many supermarkets. Food pricing is similar to that in the UK. Buying cooked food in the city is a lot cheeper. Tourist areas are very overpriced but for a beef chow mein with a fried egg on top (not really chow mein but the nearest thing i could compare it to and everything comes with fried egg on it!) and a glass of coca-cola costs around £2/2.50 but the portion sizes are excellent, 60p will buy you a curry filled rice dumpling and for around the same price you can buy a huge slushie with tapicoca balls.

As a tourist you would be looking at £30 a night for 2 people sharing a room in a 3/4* hotel.

Don't know it that hyelped I could go on and on about prices of stuff but that would be dull. Hope the GBP comparrisons are ok.
