  1. The average salary in Dallas is 111,683.00 based on this salary generator I found. Compared to the National average which is 112,398.00.

The 1st link is to the website where I searched for the above info.

The 2nd link is to a site where you can do a more customized search. The basic search is free, you just have to complete some minimal info about the job which will help them give you a more detailed salary range. I didn't try it since I didn't know your info.

Good luck and thanks for asking. ~J~

I'm sorry Ava, I totally neglected part 2 of your question in my quest for the info for part 1.

Considering the salary and skill level. I think this is an excellent job.  There is an awful lot of training. The degree it seems is equivalent to a masters degree as you have to complete an additional 24-36 months training after your become a registered nurse.  The salary seems to be more than any type of nursing specialty.  The education and curriculum is quite rigorous, so it seems you have to be good at math physics, chemistry and anatomy.

That aside I think you would need to weigh the positive of the rewards of having such a specialized career and generous income after you have entered the field against the 6-7 years of education and tenuous training that you will have to endure to get there.  If I planned to go into nursing school, this is the path that I would chose.  There seems to be a shortage of CRNA's so the salary can only get better. There is also an opportunity to own your own business and contract out to different hospitals.  I think this would likely yield a much higher salary.  I'm sure even the salary I indicated varies as this seems to be a high demand job. A hospital will likely pay more if they needed to fill a difficult position.

I updated the source list with more links: The 1st two are to a site with a 2-part article about CRNA, what it is, training, history, etc...very Interesting.  The third is to the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists website and their specific section about CRNA.  The others are general information and articles of interest.

    ~J~
