It depends on which segment of the business they work for.

The FedEx air and big rig drivers make anywhere from $12 - $20/hour depending on skills and experience.  It takes quite a while to work your way up to the good assignments.  The rookies get the crappy shifts/routes because the long term employees get priority over the good shifts/routes.

The FedEx ground drivers are currently classified as independent contractors which means they have to buy their routes from FedEx, pay for their vehicle and gas, but can choose to work extra to earn more money.  Their hourly rate is all over the place due to the expenses they have to cover.  (This classification is being challenged in many many lawsuits right now)

Most new hires don't start as drivers.  They start as package handlers and loaders at the airports or shipping hubs.
