A cage could range between £20 and £60, the rotastak ones are expensive, but a basic plastic and wire is much cheaper.

A syrian hamster is generally £5-£10 depending on sub breed, rarer ones cost more.

You will also need: a water bottle, wood shavings (suitable for small animals), small animal bedding, hamster mix, a hamster ball. Treats and toys are optional.

That adds on at least £20

Bedding, wood shavings and food need to be replaced regularly.

A cage by All Living Things at Petco cost 21.99 it is very nice. And a teddy bear hamster at Petco cost 8.99. So it will come up to 31 dollars. If you want to save money buy a hamster starter kit at Petsmart for under 30 dollars that comes with 2 lb food, Carefresh bedding, food dish, chew toys, cage (of course), and everything you need.

we bought a start up cage for £15 but our syrian grew and it looked a little bit small, so we just bought a bigger plastic one for £23 but i've seen them for sale for about £30 in other places.

Hamsters cost between £5-10 generally.

you'll need saw dust and bedding £2-£3 every month depending on how much u use - clean them out once a week and get rid of the wee corner and poo everyday.

antibacterial spay £3 - last ages!

food £1 again, lasts ages

vitamin drops £2.50 ish

treats and toys £5-10 (hamster ball, wood bits, tubes etc)

generally, i think when we broke it down, we're only spending about 50p a week on her so pretty cheap really as when i had guinea pigs it was about £5 a week!

If you mean a Syrian hamster, they are around six or seven pounds, and a cage would be about twenty pounds. But dont forget everything else you need... food, bowl, bottle, house, woodshavings, toys, bedding, treats, bottle brush, vitamin drops, mineral stone, etc. It all adds up!!

a cheap hamster cage can be bought for about 25 dollars.  hamsters aren't that expensive.  i'd say...under 40 dollars total.
